Someone once asked me,
What Does Cyber Security Mean To You?
Since we are in cybersecurity month, I would love to share my reply with you.
Nicki Minaj once rapped,
I fly with the stars in the skies
I am no longer trying to survive
I believe that life is a prize
But to live doesn’t mean you’re alive
I felt that.
I believe living and surviving are two different ball games. In your survival mode, you tend to thrive on emotions like fear or greed.
Sadly, these emotions are what cybercriminals feed on.
To be cybersafe and secure, you have to ensure you are not thriving from a place of fear or greed.
Cybersecurity is all about living.
It is about skipping that link promising you extra data if you share it with your contact.
It is about not downloading that pirated app because you can’t afford the fee of the developer.
It is about you not jumping on the next money-doubling or Ponzi scheme because you don’t have food on your table.
I love cybersecurity because it keeps you in touch with your innate nature. The ability to be calm, to believe that good will come your way and you don’t have to bring two people to be wealthy.
To the cybersecurity professionals in the house, what does cybersecurity mean to you?
To my fellow humans, what does living actually mean to you?
