The Teamwork makes the Dream Work👥👩🏽🤝👩🏿
CyberSafe Foundation announced on July 10th that we would be doing a group project. This project has to be presented and defended to the audience and judges😰.
For this group project, I was scared, nervous, and anxious😥. But I am a CyberGirl and we are doers with genius intellect.
I promised myself that I would try my best; and damn, this project took my best😅😂.
First, my team and I had to establish our communication and ensure our goals were aligned.
What were we presenting? Did we know?
No, we didn’t, and we know you can’t pour from an empty cup.
I went to speak with my sister in cloud security, Motun and she took out her time to help me❤️🙏🏿. Every evening became a delight as we would hop on huddles, share our screens, and study together.
We organized sessions for ourselves to understand our project🤗.
Then we knew what we were doing. But could we explain this to people💁🏾?
Being great is important, but being able to communicate that greatness is most important!
How do we communicate this knowledge💁🏾? We wondered and decided to go with storytelling.
Who else can we entrust with telling this story than our very own Tessa Angelika😍? She sold our story to the audience and carried them on the journey of our project.
The journey on “Simulating an AWS instance EC2 attack and conducting post-analysis using AWS guard duty and security hub”.
A special shoutout to my very own Deborah Omotade❤️ who ensured I didn’t lose my mind and calmed me down when I started panicking. In our storyline, she was the manager of the organization, in charge of communicating with our client.
My ever-smiling Sarah Karumuna🥰 and Confident Gloria Rotich😉 were the penetration testers.
Gloria Rotich brute-forced the password linked to the website as the SSH port meant for the administrator was left open to the public.
Sarah Karumuna remediated the issue by closing off the SSH port opened to the public and switching off the password linked to the website.
Then I created AWS Cloud Trail and activated Guard Duty and Security Hub on the Client’s page.
Till the night before our presentation, we met up and rehearsed😅🤗.
My team securing the OVERALL BEST TEAM in CyberSafe Foundation Open Day with a score of 97 isn’t just a win.
It is a testament to our hard work, cooperation, zeal to know, deliver, and lastly grace💪🏿🙏🏿.
he fact that we gathered this knowledge and communicated it well is mind-blowing❤️🔥.
