2021
Started Cybersecurity Journey
In 2021, my interest in cybersecurity blossomed into a full-fledged passion. This year I have marked a pivotal point when I decided to learn more about cybersecurity.
First, I secured a GRCrole in the cybersecurity department at Huawei. During these months, I gained practical skills in network administration, policy implementation, and security awareness in an organization.
2022
Building on Foundations
Building on the foundational knowledge from Huawei, I enrolled in the Halogen Introduction to Cybersecurity, where I received training on fundamental cybersecurity concepts and practices.
After, I trained in Tech4Dev in various aspects of cybersecurity, like CIA Triad, risk assessment, pentesting, and report preparation.
Then, in late 2022, I applied for the CyberGirls Scholarship program. This program, which commenced in 2023, provided me with advanced knowledge in network basics, network device configuration, threat management, incident response, GRC, SOC, cloud pen-testing, Windows Server, Linux, IAM, ITIL4, cloud computing, and cloud security.
2023
Advancing Towards Cloud Security
With a solid background in cybersecurity, I began focusing on cloud security engineering.
In June 2023, I embarked on a journey to become a cloud security engineer, gaining practical knowledge in Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS. I passed the Microsoft Professional AZ-900 exam and earned the Cloud Practitioner badge from AWS Skill Builder.
As a cloud security analyst, my team and I simulated an AWS EC2 Instance Attack on a client’s (consulting firm) website and built a serverless website with multiregion on AWS for a jewellery store.
2024
Aligning My Knowledge With Real Life Experience
At the beginning of this year, I decided to identify my knowledge gap and build my skills in those areas. Doing that allowed me to work as a Cybersecurity Validation Analyst at VTFoundation. During my internship at VTFoundation, I learned about the MITRE Attack Framework, how to map security controls to industry standards, the roles of the purple team, and more.
Later, I got the opportunity to work as a Cloud Assessment Analyst.
The role involved assessing the security posture of an organisation’s cloud environments, gathering evidence through shoulder surfing, preparing the cloud security incident report, and communicating with stakeholders.
