A provider? I am sure most of us have read about what a provider should be and what they should not be.
Today, I am here to tell you what you are entitled to from a provider, the BASICS a provider should offer and nothing less.
It is your right, and I hope by the end of this post, you will take advantage of your right.
Oh yes, we will be talking about cloud providers. But before we talk about them, let’s talk about the Cloud and the services that the cloud provider offers.
CLOUD COMPUTING
What is cloud computing? Is it a computer that offers a cloud? Where can we buy it from?
Just kidding. Let’s get into it!
Cloud computing in layman’s terms is simply renting spaceand power from large data centres to run our apps and store our files, which can be accessed anytimeand from any deviceconnected to the internet.
With cloud computing, we can use the internet to store, manage, and process data instead of our computer’s hard drive.
SERVICE MODEL
Cloud service models are the different ways we can use cloud computing services. There are 3 main cloud service models:
Infrastructure as a service (IAAS) involves renting basic computer resources like servers and storage over the Internet and managing everything.
Platform as a service (PAAS) involves renting a ready-to-use platform that provides hardware and software tools for developing and managing Software applications.
Software as a service (SAAS) involves accessing software applications over the internet on a subscription basis.
DEPLOYMENT MODEL
Cloud service providers make their services available for us through Cloud Deployment Models, and we have 3 main models:
Public Cloud is provided over the Internet and shared by everyone. Anyone can store, share and access the cloud services.
Private Clouds are used exclusively by one Organization, and their cloud tools and services available to only them.
Hybrid cloud is combination of public and private clouds. A business can have their on- premise (private) cloud and still make use of a public cloud (AWS) services.
CLOUD PROVIDERS
A cloud provider is an organisation that provides or rents this cloud platform for you to use.
Amazon Web Services is owned by Amazon, the same Amazon where you buy things online and it happens to be my favourite provider.
Microsoft Azure is owned by Microsoft, and you have to live under a rock and not know it.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is owned by Google.
Huawei Fusion Cloud is owned by Huawei, known for tech gadgets.
