Electrical Engineering: From Power To Telecommunication

What do you plan to do with your life 👩🏾‍🔬?

My cousin posed a question.
This type of question often sparks animosity 🙄. I am no exception. Yet, at this stage of my life, I needed to look beyond that and focus on the intention behind it 😣.
This was during the pandemic year, and I had recently completed a four-month internship at the Ondo State Electricity Board. Following this training, I was confident that electricity and power were my right career paths 😊.

I returned to school to complete my 300-level second semester, which was postponed due to the strike and pandemic. When the exam period arrived, I took my exams confidently, but my results told a different story 😱.
Before this, I had some difficulties with physics as a subject. However, I hoped I could manage it 🏄🏼.
I talked to a friend who worked at the distribution centre of a power holding company. They explained that we need to use formulas and additional methods to solve equations related to power supply and electricity 🤔.

My results came out, and for the first time, I had three carryovers, all in Power courses. I was shocked and scared simultaneously. I felt this was the worst time to fail any course since I could only redo it in my final years 😰.
Due to the university’s policies, I couldn’t specialize in the Power option unless I was willing to have an extra year. This turned me to telecommunication, another option under electrical engineering 😍.
This was a big turning point and redirection for me.

Are you eager to hear how it has been going so far 🤔?
Stay tuned for more!

Also, I am not using this post to say that one shouldn’t work towards one’s passion. I am saying that I decided to change to something that would give me a better chance.
